Notices on handbooks, routes and mountain activities

Mountaineering and hiking require caution, competence and personal responsibility.

Information on this site (trail sheets, itineraries, timings, grading, suggested gear, general guidance) is for information only and may be incomplete, outdated or unsuitable for your fitness, skill level, terrain or weather on the day.

  • How‑to material and technical tips: apply critical judgement to instructions on gear, rope techniques, difficulty ratings or risk management. Always cross‑check with official sources, qualified guides, up‑to‑date club handbooks and manufacturers’ documentation.
  • Routes and tracks: GPX files, maps and descriptions do not replace official mapping or safety bulletins. Paths may be closed, damaged by landslides or snow, or different from the description.
  • Weather and altitude: conditions can change quickly; plan with margin, tell someone reliable about your plan and be ready to turn back.
  • Responsibility: anyone going into the mountains is personally responsible for decisions, group suitability and equipment. This site and its authors do not lead your outing and cannot replace field judgement.
  • Limitation: to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for harm arising from relying solely on online information without independent verification and adequate preparation.

Digital services, accounts and conduct

  • You must not use the site in a way that compromises security, overloads infrastructure or infringes others’ rights.
  • Where accounts or restricted areas exist, you are responsible for credential confidentiality and for activity under your profile.
  • User comments or contributions must not include unlawful, defamatory or harmful material; the publisher may moderate or remove content that breaks the rules or the law.
