Community tourism for the weekend

Today people try to apply the concept of sustainability to any human activity that interacts with the environment, in an attempt to reconcile the needs of mankind, economic and otherwise, with the need to protect the environment in which it lives from final destruction.

The tourism sector too, which can have significant negative effects on the natural and anthropological balance of an area, is now being touched by this new and, we hope, everlasting interest, and you can support this respectful approach to travel by choosing sustainable holiday offers.

In Italy there are several villages and valleys that promote community tourism, that is, tourism development along lines and directions shared by the local population.

To spend a weekend in one of these special places, you can take inspiration from one of the Campobase travel ideas, entitled “Bagni termali, di fieno e di sapienza in Val di Rabbi” (Thermal baths, hay baths and baths of wisdom in Val di Rabbi).

The programme is tempting: visits to the mill, to the masi (traditional farmsteads) and to the old sawmill; walks in the green pastures; wellness treatments at the spa; an evening of dancing to the music of the folk band... All of it interspersed with tasty meals of local food.

Accommodation is in one of the establishments – hotels, mountain chalets, apartments, Bed & Breakfasts – that belong to the Turismo di Comunità (Community Tourism) project.

So, by going to spend a weekend in the splendid Val di Rabbi, not only do you get fun, relaxation and emotions, but you also help to build and spread (as other places imitate those that attract visitors in this way) a sustainable tourism.

For another idea for a stay in the mountains, read Vermiglio, la freschezza dell'alta quota.
