The future belongs to the young; never has this idea been as true as in this documentary.
What did the great climbers of the 60s do, what did the great climbers and boulderers of the 70s, 80s and 90s do ... Admirable feats but ... what can the young generations do, today? This is what really matters.
How much training? How much effort? But above all, how much do you need to change your own psychology to push past limits once thought impossible?
Well, this documentary opens the door for us onto the future developments of climbing. And it also shows us that in the natural, mountain environment it is still possible to develop and explore new disciplines. It takes perseverance and stubbornness, it takes the ability to go beyond your own limits.
A video made with sponsorship from The North Face, Petzl, Wind Stopper. The footage is interesting, but the editing and the script of the documentary are not as stunning as you would expect from a film that can enjoy a bit more funding...
Interesting above all because, for us Italians, it opens up that very practical, very concrete Anglo-Saxon "way" of “thinking” and “doing”. It also reminds us of the importance of the young generations, always too crushed by the imposing shadow of past icons.
In the middle the documentary is a bit long, but all in all this twelfth DVD turns out to be perfectly acceptable overall.
From the same DVD series we have also reviewed Nanga Parbat by Joseph Vilsmaier.
