The hut stands at 894 m above sea level within the boundaries of the Foreste Casentinesi National Park.
It lies in the valley of the Oia, in the municipality of Stia, in the Casentino area, Province of Arezzo. This is a different Tuscany, of beeches and firs, of parish churches and villages perched on rocks, of strong, decisive flavours...
You reach the hut along the Strada Provinciale 310 del Bidente, starting from Stia, as far as km 11.700.
Turn off to the left and after 4 and a half km you reach the hut. CAI waymark no. 86. The hut has 12 beds, hot water, heating, electricity, two bathrooms and a wood-fired kitchen. It offers overnight stays either self-catering or staffed, with a bed & breakfast service only.
The hut offers only food products from the Casentino. The hut makes a good place to stop and stay overnight on routes on foot, on snowshoes, by mountain bike (the building is on the route of the Straccabike cross-country race and of 2 mountain bike loops waymarked by the Park), or on horseback (it also has a covered wood-and-stone paddock with 6 stalls for horses). It's ideal for summer group activities in the woods (yoga, tai chi, etc...).
