The book… the one I wrote, is not and does not set out to be a biography of a strong mountaineer, in my view the “strongest” central Italy has ever had.

The fact that I climbed a lot with him and shared long periods with him in very difficult situations, as a climb in Patagonia or in the Himalaya can be, led me to want to tell, with all my limits, what a great person Tiziano was.

As I write word for word in the book, I would never have written anything about him just because he was strong. Being a mountaineer from head to toe, Tiziano was an extraordinary climbing partner because of his humanity, his frankness, sincerity, affability and above all his infectious cheerfulness, with which to share in the most “true” way something as powerful and absorbing as mountaineering. Before the change of generation led people to forget a great protagonist of our mountaineering, I therefore wrote the book, taking up an idea left unfinished by Loretta Spaccatrosi, to leave a testimony of the fine figure that Tiziano was. I don't know if I succeeded, it could certainly have been done better. I wrote more with feeling and with memories than with grammar or correct Italian, and I hope it will nonetheless please those who knew him and those who still hear about him today without ever having seen him.
My thanks go to his family, who did not hold back from telling stories and clearing up certain facts. Special thanks to those who chose to contribute writings and testimonies, and thanks again to the Società Editrice Ricerche, which took care of the publication.
