Cover of Cometa sull'Annapurna, a book by Simone Moro published by CorbaccioA moving story…

We read Simone Moro's book with amazement.
The book is the fruit of the tragic experience the author went through: falling 800 m, swept away by an avalanche on the slopes of Annapurna, and losing his great friend and even greater mountaineer Anatolij Bukreev. If at times the book seems to have contradictory tones, on the other hand we discover the genuine and engaging character of Simone Moro. A book of strong contrasts and of lacerating emotions... a book written by a great mountaineer, by a great man.

I bothered Simone Moro to ask him for his opinion. In the book I had found constant swings in the tone and mood of the characters. Yes, indeed Moro is not a writer, but as he himself writes he is a man of adventure. One who cared more about defending the memory of his lost friend Anatolij Bukreev than about the literary success of his own book.
That's what we like about mountain men… they know how to put themselves on the line for ethical and moral values…

Simone Moro is one of those... Thank you Simone

Simone Moro is also one of the protagonists of the film Cold, on the DVD Big Stone, Linea Continua, Cold.

About the book and who it's for

Cometa sull'Annapurna is published by Corbaccio and is a book of pure narrative, with no photographs or illustrations. It isn't a manual or a technical chronicle of the expedition: it's the first-person account of an avalanche accident and of the loss of a rope partner, written by a mountaineer and not by a man of letters.

We recommend it to anyone who wants to understand what risk means in high-altitude mountaineering and the bond between those who climb together, and to anyone interested in the figure of Anatolij Bukreev. Those looking for polished prose may find the tone uneven; those looking for a sincere testimony will find it precious. For another story of Himalayan mountaineering lived at the limit, read the review of Prigioniero del ghiaccio.
