Prato di Campoli is a natural mountain spot in the heart of Ciociaria, and more precisely in the territory of the municipality of Veroli. The plateau, if we can call it that, is wedged between the peaks of the southern massif of the Monti Ernici (the Pratelle group), made up of the summits of Pizzo Deta, Monte Passeggio, Fragara and Monte Ginepro. Across this broad flat expanse, meadows alternate with woods of ancient beeches.

Although it is closed in by high mountains, the view is enchanting and shows its best in spring, when the meadows are green and the rocks and the undergrowth full of moss give the place an almost fairy-tale look.

Prato di Campoli is ideal for spring and summer picnics, the right place to bring the whole family, children and grandchildren for a lovely day in contact with nature.

There are equipped areas for lighting fires and cooking really tasty barbecues.

The tables are scattered all over the meadow at considerable distances from one another; you never get the feeling of being somewhere crowded. Finding a table under the great beeches is wonderful.

At certain times of the year you can also find a few bars open along the main road that runs the length of the valley.

There are a great many hiking possibilities in this valley.

A place that really deserves a visit, perhaps well equipped with rice salad, a few sausages and a nice bottle of light wine.

Prato di Campoli is run by a Cooperative that asks for a contribution of a few euros for access. Money we spend very willingly, aware that such a marvellous place has to be managed, maintained and protected. And given the excellent state this natural area is in, it must be said that it is a pleasure to be able to help it stay that way.
