The volume belongs to the new, handy series “I Pivierini”, whose “blue series” is devoted to guides and manuals.

The series, cheaper and with smaller volumes, keeps the scientific rigour and the quality of images characteristic of the publisher's books, while trying to offer products that are easier to read, to handle and to carry.
This volume contains about 220 previously unpublished colour photos and a few drawings and illustrative diagrams.

The book is a fascinating showcase of the spectacular variety of rocks and of the geological heritage of the Ligurian territory; it is also a useful and practical tool for interpreting rocks, their genesis and evolution over the geological eras. A popular edition, accessible even to non-specialists, rich in images, information and thematic sheets, which also aims to bridge texts of more narrowly local interest and the rich scientific literature.
A “geological walk” back in time to discover the many places where you can observe and examine
the incredible variety of rocks found in Liguria, whose small surface area holds a high geodiversity.
The text is organised in two parts: the first is a general introduction to Geology, to the classification of rocks and to the different processes that form them, introducing the “technical” terminology used in the second, which consists of thematic sheets describing the main geological features of Ligurian rocks. Each sheet comes with the indication and description of an easily accessible “example outcrop”.
